What is GATE?

The Global Alliance for Theological Education is a network for cooperation, resource sharing, and mutual support among theological institutions.

Do schools keep their academic independence?

Yes. The proposed model keeps curriculum, teaching, assessment, and academic standards under the course-providing institution’s control.

How does an institution apply?

Obtain two current-member recommendations, prepare the required application information, accept the constitution and regulations, and complete the annual fee arrangements. The Standing Council reviews membership applications.

What are the membership fees?

The supplied constitution sets annual service membership at US$400 and basic membership at US$100. Ask NYTEC to confirm current arrangements before applying.

Does membership grant accreditation?

No. GATE supports institutions working toward accreditation standards, but the relevant accrediting body makes accreditation decisions.

Which languages will courses use?

The constitution provides for Mandarin and Cantonese teaching; individual courses may not be available in both. Confirm the language in each published course listing.

Can students enrol now?

The course catalogue, academic terms, and enrolment dates have not yet been published here. Confirmed offerings and registration instructions will appear on the Academics pages.

Where will students study?

Under the proposed model, students use GATE for central services and access courses in the teaching institution’s learning environment. Specific access instructions will accompany each course.

Must every school already use Moodle?

The project proposal anticipates participation by schools using other platforms or manual processes. Integration and support arrangements must be agreed with the project team.
